Evil spirits use eight weapons against you. Scripture says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Knowledge of the realm of the spirit around you is essential. Did you know Jesus taught more about demons than he did about angels?
POWER AGAINST UNCLEAN SPIRITS
If fact, after Jesus called his Disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits to cast them out (Matthew 10:1). Sometimes we forget the anointing does more than imparting blessing; it also confronts spiritual opposition. It breaks the yoke and removes the burden. The anointing confronts demonic activity that is contrary to the Word of God and His promises for your life.
Demons are spirits that rebelled against God. They can’t attack God, so they attack his creation. This is why it’s important to understand spiritual authority. You have an enemy. Demons are destroyers of God’s purpose for your life. Ignoring these creatures won’t stop their plans for destruction. Ignorance makes things worse because demons take advantage of your lack of knowledge. As already said, God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
WILES OF THE DEVIL
Apostle Paul taught the members of his church about the wiles of the devil. He wrote, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). Paul understood the importance of putting on the whole armor of God. Armor is for the fighting Disciple of Christ. It’s for those that understand their delegated spiritual authority to challenge demonic strategies.
Evil spirits use wedge weapons to separate you from God’s Word, other Disciples, and faithful Christian service. A wedge is a piece of material, such as metal or wood, thick at one edge and tapered to a thin edge at the other for insertion in a narrow crevice, used for splitting, tightening, securing, or levering. You have probably seen someone use a metal wedge when cutting logs.
DEMONIC WEDGE WEAPONS
Here are some of the wedge weapons you should watch for.
DISCORD (A lack of agreement, disagreement, a harsh mixture of sounds.)
When someone sows discord, they use the wedge of disagreement with the intention of breaking unity. Unity is necessary. “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19). Be mindful of a false witness, half-truths, and discord sown among the brethren (Proverbs 6:19). Once strife enters your home, ministry, or business, it wars against the peace of God and your ability to advance in the promises of God.
STRIFE (Strife a lack of agreement and harmony leading to open conflict.)
This is a wedge weapon that produces sharp conflict between people. This is a higher level than discord because strife gets between those that were once very close. Strife creates a nasty working environment. You feel like you are walking on eggshells around those in strife.
ACCUSATION (To bring an accusation against, level a charge against, blame, make a claim of wrongdoing or misbehavior against.)
This is a typical wedge weapon. This is when someone launches an accusation of wrongdoing against another. In our ministry, when someone levels a charge against a member we bring all parties in the room together to restore unity and peace. Accusations are a very serious thing. Satan is known as the Accuser Of The Brethren. God says, “Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses” (1 Timothy 5:19).
WORLDLY ENTICEMENT (Enticement is something that seduces or has the qualities of seduction.)
Have you noticed the pull into worldliness? Good Christian people are enticed into attending events they have no business attending, watching movies they should find repulsive, wearing clothes that are revealing, listening to music with sensual messages, or laughing at jokes that should not be funny? The Bible says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world” (1 John 2:15-16). Beware the wedge of seduction that would try to pull you away from the things of God. Don’t be unequally yoked. What fellowship has righteousness and unrighteousness? (2 Corinthians 6:14).
DIVISION (The process of dividing, discord that splits a group.)
Division is a powerful wedge weapon causing church splits, prayer group splits, cell group splits, ministry team splits, and family splits. Watch for demonic activity when something attacks the unity in your groups.
CONFUSION (A lack of clear thought and behavior.)
When witchcraft hits your mind, it releases confusion. Confusion can be a sign of spiritual attack against your mind. The purpose of confusion is to steal what the Holy Spirit is trying to do in your life. If confusion comes on you suddenly plead the blood of Jesus over your mind and bind any demonic assignment released against you. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered!
PROFANE MIXTURE (Unholy mixed with Holy, showing disrespect or contempt for sacred things, to treat sacred things with irreverence or contempt, mixing truth with error.)
Profane mixtures are one of the most powerful wedge weapons the devil uses. The call of every minister is to teach God’s people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean” (Ezekiel 44:23). Today some churches are filled with unholy mixtures.
GOSSIP (Malicious report about other people’s behavior, telling private information to others, spreading scandal.)
No Christian should gossip about another person’s private life. We see gossip camouflaged by prefacing it with “we need to pray for so and so because they… .” Be careful what you listen to. Your ears are not trash cans. Don’t let someone fill you with gossip.
When you agree with a demonic wedge weapon, you open the door of demonic influence in your life. James wrote, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work” (James 3:16). Stay aware of the wiles of the devil and his demonic wedge weapons.
Christian culture in the West is under attack from an unholy trinity of spirits, the religious spirit (Islam), racism, and homosexuality (including transgenderism). We could throw in humanism too. That's for another article.
