Experiencing a Spiritual Awakening

Are you ready to receive the call of the Holy Spirit, launching you into a life of obedience and joy? Sometime along life’s path, something seems to direct us onto a path that can be very different than what we have been used to. This is what some call a spiritual awakening. It’s an awakening that is so powerful that it offers a hard fork in direction.  

There is an interesting Scripture in the Old Testament that shows how a spiritual awakening set a young man on a life journey with amazing results. Samuel was just a young boy lying on his bed in Eli’s house. Sometime in the night he hears a voice calling his name. Samuel thinks it’s Eli calling him, so he runs to his room. Eli tells Samuel it was not his voice but if he hears the voice again say, "Here I am". Let’s take a look.

“And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.” (1 Samuel 3:6-10)

This is an example of a spiritual awakening. Eli was wise enough to understand what was happening in Samuel’s life and gave him some great instruction. This Scripture reveals the launching on Samuel into ministry.

Perhaps you have already had this type of encounter with the Holy Spirit waking you up and revealing His purpose in your life. If so, continue that path of obedience to God. If not, fret not. Scripture gives you hope for a bright tomorrow. Christ said, “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).
