The Promise of the Hornet: Standing Up for God's Kingdom

Promise of the Hornet

With every promise from God comes opposition, but the Lord will send the hornet against those who challenge His purpose and plan. When God heard the cries of His people, He gave them a promise of a land flowing with milk and honey. This promise also came with instruction to possess the land.

Along the way, the children of the Kingdom faced many difficulties and challenges. To encourage them, God promised the hornet would be sent against those who challenged His purpose and plan. This same promise still stands for those who keep the commandments of God. Everyone who is being shaken should take the same courage as Paul gave Timothy and stir up the gift that is in them. Let God send the hornets against those who would try to damage His Kingdom.

When God heard the cries of his people because of the cruelty of the Egyptian Pharaoh, he came down to deliver them. He gave them some good news. That good news was the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey. In other words, a land without lack. Can you imagine the excitement?

With that great promise came also some instruction. It was an instruction to possess the land. This word possess required a stout focus, focus without distraction. It also required faith in Jehovah and a different spirit. A spirit ready for faith in God and conflict with the enemy.

As you know, it seems with every promise from God there is opposition. The opposition, however, is part and parcel of the great cause of showing forth the majesty of Jehovah who leads and guides his people. Not only that but his great reputation as protector, provider, healer, and the Most High.

The children of the Kingdom met many difficulties and challenges along the way. But God gave them another word of encouragement. It was the promise of the hornet released against those that would challenge the purpose and plan of God. Let's take a look.

"Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed. Thou shalt not be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible. And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee." (Deuteronomy 7:20-22)

What a powerful word of encouragement for the righteous and a terrifying word for the enemy. That same word, the promise of the hornet, still stands for those that keep the commandments of God. Think of it. No weapon formed against you can prosper. So be of good courage. Everything that can be shaken is being shaken. Take the same counsel that Paul gave Timothy, stir up the gift that's in you. If so be, let God send the hornets against those that would try to damage His Kingdom.
