Words are the most powerful force in the universe. The words you speak are filled with life or death.
Powerful words can help heal or make sick. Scripture declares, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20-22).
It’s astonishing how some Christians don’t understand the words coming out of their mouths are producing a harvest. Some words, like seeds, bring forth a good crop and other words, like seeds, bring forth a bad crop.
Your fallen Adamic nature is a negative nature. That negative nature is carnal, earthly, sensuous, and hostile toward the things of the Spirit. That’s why you must renew your mind with the life-giving Word of God. “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:5-7).
Apostle Paul wrote, “Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). Negative thoughts war against your soul. They are enemies and must be taken captive. You know when they are taken captive when you refuse to speak their thoughts and speak God’s thoughts.
The Bible says, “Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24). Learning to change the way you think will help you improve the way you speak.
