How to Avoid the Way of the Wicked and Follow the Voice of the King

Way Of The World 1The way of the world is the way of the wicked, rebellious, carnally minded, and self-absorbed. God says, “For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then, they that are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:6-8).

“Now the works of the flesh are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:19-21).

The word enmity means hostile, meaning a carnally minded man is not only rebellious against God but is hostile against the things of God. This man cannot be led by the Holy Spirit. This person is walking in darkness and won't come into the light because his deeds are evil.

Two voices want to speak into your life each day. One is a fool and the other a king. The voice of a fool is the way of the world. The fool thinketh in his heart there is no God. The Bible says, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes” (Proverbs 12:15).

The fool follows the worldly. The fool is blind and self-seeking. And the fool despises wise counsel. Scripture says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Christ says the wise, however, enter the strait gate. “For wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go there” (Matthew 7:13).

The other voice is that of a king. It's the voice of the righteous. In this world, there are many roads and many voices. Apostle Paul said they all have different meanings. They all offer direction and counsel. Some of these roads lead to destruction but there is one road that leads to life abundant. It's the path of the wise.

Wise is the man that finds the path of judgment. God says, “For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints” (Proverbs 2:6-8).

Avoid the way of the world and walk in the light. Learn from Christ that said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
