Gaining Knowledge and Practicing What You Read: Don't Waste Time with Your Life

Stop Wasting Time 1Wasting time is a waste of time. You are only going to live for so long, so you might as well make the best of it. The best of it is found in the will of God. It's him that created you for an expected end. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Some people play around with time like its never-ending. Don't do it. Get focused. Dig in. And find that path that takes you where you need to go. That path is not the broad one the masses travel on, but that straight and narrow path. Christ declared, “Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. For narrow is the gate and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).

There is a Scripture in the Bible that talks about being a doer of the word, not just someone that has heard the word and done nothing with it. It says, “For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was” (James 1:23-24).

To be a doer of the word means to apply the word of God to your life. You do that by doing. There are thousands of people that can quote the word of God but don't apply it to their lives. These are the people that get older but not wiser. Make sure that's not you. Purpose in your heart to learn something from God's word every day and ask the Holy Spirit to help you apply it to your daily walk.

Don't be like others and waste valuable years. Gain knowledge and practice what you read. For example, one of the spiritual laws of the Kingdom of God is sowing and reaping. Scripture declares that a man reaps what he sows. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). Take note of what you are doing. Are you sowing into things that God would approve of? Or even worse not even considering what you are doing. The point is, don't waste time with your life. Find that expected end by getting on the path of righteousness. Be that doer of the word we find described in the Bible.

Keep God first in your life. The Bible says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
