Discovering Identity and Victory: Don't Quit Walking in the Light

Become Who You AreSome people never become who they are destined to be because they quit walking in the light. The light is the realm of discovery. It’s where your identity manifest. Little by little, and bit by bit your purpose in life is revealed.

The Bible says something interesting along these lines. It says, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29:29). Can you see it? What’s revealed belongs to you. That which is revealed has much to do with who you are. That should be your focus.

It’s in the light that the Holy Spirit, the spirit of truth, leads and guides. Scripture declares, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine and shall show it unto you (John 16:13-14).

Those that stray from the truth stall out in faith and are not equipped to deal with discouragement or the trials of life. When the day of battle comes, they shrink back. This is because they have no roots in themselves. They are easy targets of attack from every evil thing. Those that stray stop putting Christ and his kingdom first. As already indicated, when opposition or hardship comes, they buckle in battle, give up, and quit. But that’s not you.

For those that are faithful, however, they learn what’s like to battle principles and powers and win. Jesus said he gave you power over the enemy of your faith. These overcomers are the remnant forces of good that endure hardness as a good soldier of Christ (2 Timothy 2:3). Soldiers fight. Soldiers display courage when others peel off. Staying in the light, putting Christ first, renewing your mind with the Word of God, and living by faith in Christ will lead you to victory. Scripture declares, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4). When you allow the Holy Spirit to teach you who you are in Christ, then you can become what you were destined to become, a one-of-a-kind, unique, child of God.
