Power of word that you speak can be your best friends or your worse enemies. Jesus said, “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned” (Matthew 12:37).

Scripture also says, “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth” (Proverbs 6:2). This is why you need to pay careful attention to the words you speak because life and death are in the power of the tongue. This means you get to choose what lives and what dies.

STANDING

The good news is you are on the right track by renewing your mind, casting down imaginations, taking hold of the words you speak, and learning to use the word of God to direct your life. When fear, doubt, unbelief, vain imaginations, or confusion attack your mind, don’t give in. Don’t speak what you are feeling. Those are only emotions, they are not the truth. This is warfare. Apostle Paul called it the evil day. The evil day is when your emotions are going crazy and trying to take over. The evil day is the day of battle. Remember what Jesus did, he spoke to the opposition, not about the opposition. He decreed, “It is written.” Do the same, speak truth to the storm, and keep doing it until you get peace in your spirit. As already said, the word of God is seed, and the seed knows what to do (Mark 4:27). Plant the seed and let God take it from there. The Apostle Paul gave you excellent counsel when fighting the fight of faith. He wrote, “Having done all stand.”

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:13-17).

After you have done everything you know to do, stand. In other words, give it to God. Let the word of God bring about the victory. Scripture says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

ENEMIES

Word thieves are after the promises of God in your life. These enemies want to steal your health, wealth, wisdom, success, prosperity, peace, joy, long life, and many such things. Scripture declares, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's” (Psalms 103:2-5).

The Bible is a book of words, a book of instruction, and a book of opportunity. Not everyone looks for instruction and opportunity, but you do. Jesus gave Peter an opportunity to receive a great financial blessing. He gave him this command, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Peter faced the same fight of faith you do. He was a professional fisherman wondering how a Jewish preacher could teach him how to make money in the fishing business. Soulish reasoning can steal what faith can create. Peter did the right thing. “Master, we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing: Nevertheless at thy word, I will let down the net” (Luke 5:5).

Faith and reason sometimes conflict with each other. Your God is first of all a faith God, not a reason God. Your soul wants to reason things out. It wants to know how God is going to do this or that. It wants to analyze, calculate, investigate, and reason things out. Your soul desires to set conditions and circumstances. Jesus taught that faith doesn’t need to know how a miracle will come about. All you need to do is trust God. The seed knows what to do.

“O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?” (Matthew 16:8)

“And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?” (Mark 2:8-9)

Sound judgment is a good thing, but all God’s blessings involve faith. Peter did the right thing. He set reason aside, acted by faith, and went fishing again. His blessing was on the other side of his obedience.

Faith doesn’t always know how God is going to do what he says. You don’t need to know how God is going to do this or that, just trust him. Do what he says. Follow the instruction. Scripture says, “No good thing will God withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalms 84:11).

The word of God is filled with benefits. Benefits are blessings for those that walk by faith and not by sight. Scripture says, “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). Everywhere you find faith, you will find expectation. Everywhere you find expectation you will find God’s word.
