Take Every Thought Captive: 24 Negative Words That Affect Your Life

Take Every Thought Captive: 24 Negative Words That Affect Your LifeTake every thought captive when negative thieves attack your life. The most common thieves in your life are negative thoughts. Negative thoughts produce negative words and negative words choke the Word and make it unfruitful.

Scripture declares out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” (Luke 6:45). The negative mind never achieves the will of God, it only tears down and destroys. Negative words are the expression of an ignorant and unbelieving heart.
One day Jesus went to his hometown and taught in the church. The attendees were amazed at his wisdom, but somehow the words of some people turned from a positive expression of faith to a negative expression of unbelief and dishonor. Unbelief robbed many of a mighty miracle. “And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” Let’s read what happened.

“And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” (Matthew 13:54-58)

You might be surrounded by negative people. This makes it easier to develop a negative attitude. Negativity is fatal to your success and experiencing God’s best. Avoid negative people by learning to edit your life of toxic conversations. Avoid them. Don’t spend your time listening to men that won’t listen to God.
You can never speak negative words without getting negative results. Words have spiritual power. Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Even when things go wrong in your life, choose the words of your reaction carefully.
Weak and faithless people are full of negative words. Words change things. Words inspire. Words embolden. Words steer your life. Words are destinations. Become aware of your words. Speak healthily. Speak wealthy. Speak wisely. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8).
It is faith-filled words that move you forward and empower you to walk out the plan of God. The negative person can never achieve God’s best because their words are carnal. Carnal words have no spiritual life. To be carnally minded is death.

“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity (hostile) against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:5-8).

NEGATIVE WORDS
Negative people attract other negative people. By contrast, faith-filled people attract other faith-filled people. Whatever is in your heart will come out of your mouth. Guard your heart. Scripture says, “Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far from you” (Proverbs 4:24, AMP).
Negative words can do more harm to you than Satan himself. As mentioned before, words are like rudders that steer your life. Since you were a child, you have heard people speak negative words. Negative words have power. Scripture says you shall have whatsoever you sayeth, not whatsoever you meaneth. Perhaps you have heard some of these negative, yet prophetic statements.
  • I get sick this same time every year.
  • There is no use.
  • Nobody in our family has ever made it.
  • I never get anything right.
  • People always blame me.
  • Things could be worse.
  • What’s wrong?
  • That’s unbelievable.
  • I can’t afford it.
  • That scared me to death.
  • I can never wake up on time.
  • I’m just dying to see that.
  • There’s no way that’s going to happen.
  • You’re killing me.
  • I never get a good night’s sleep.
  • I doubt it.
  • That tickles me to death.
  • I’m worried.
  • I’m always late.
  • Nobody I know has any money.
  • Every time it rains we have problems.
  • I don’t believe a word their saying.
  • I have a headache.
  • I’m sick and tired of.
It’s very common for people to say things like. “I have this or that.” You may not be feeling good, for example, but don’t say you have anything. It’s better to say, “I’m passing through.” There is a difference between facts and truth. The fact might be you are not feeling good, but the truth is, by His stripes you are healed,

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

Your success in life will be measured by your ability to change the way you think, the fortitude to pursue the things of God, and changing the way you speak. Don’t let negative words steer your life. Scripture says,

“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? Either a vine, figs? So can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh” (James 3:10-12).

To take every thought captive, keep your thoughts positive and constructive. Avoid giving life to doubt, worry, fear, insecurity, and uncertainty. These are your enemies. Negative thoughts steal, kill, and destroy the plan of God. Find the Words of Life you need to speak and repeat them. The moment you do, your course will change. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth good things.
