Seeking Daily Bread from the Word of God: The Power of Jesus' Teaching on the Lord's Prayer

download 6

Jesus taught his Disciples to pray this prayer. “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:9-13).

Our simplest understanding of this Scripture is asking the Father for daily provision. But what happens when you view this prayer as a quest for daily bread from the word of God itself? Remember, Jesus is the bread that came down from heaven, the commanding heights. “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world” (John 6:32-33).

Jesus, the bread, is the word of God incarnate. Could it be possible when you pray the Lord’s Prayer that God responds by giving daily provision through his life-giving word? Jesus told his Disciples he had food they didn’t know he had (John 4:34). Where did it come from? Was it within him?

LANGUAGE, CULTURE, AND WORDS

Every kingdom has a culture including the kingdom of God. Cultures, for example, have their own unique fashion, music, literature, food, economy, and language. Language is a collection of words connected together in an orderly fashion. A systematic collection of words allows people to communicate and understand.

Words frame your life by giving perspective and direction. If fact, the world itself was created by words. Scripture declares, “Through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Hebrews 11:3). This is a powerful truth. God, who is a spirit, created the natural world you live in. In other words, spirit created form. It was God (a spirit) that breathed life into Adam who became a living soul. It can be hard to grasp to the carnal mind that Spirit is more real than natural, but it’s true anyway. That’s why one day you shall know Him as you are known. “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).

Everything God ever did on this earth involved the use of words. Words were always involved. If God created the world with words, then you can create your world through words. Get started today.
