Learn the truth about homosexuality and gay marriage from a Biblical perspective and how to stand up for God's righteousness in our nation. President Obama sent a clear message to our nation’s children by validating homosexuality and same-sex marriage. America’s president made it plain he supports “gay marriage.” This is a reflection on the continued slide into immorality within our nation’s leadership. President Obama needs prayer.
His view is just plain wrong and reflects his deepest core values. What a person values is reflected in his or her character. Values define beliefs, kingdoms, cultures, people groups, and purpose. Personal values gather people and personal values divide people. To some Christ is a stumbling stone. To others, he is the light of the world. Values light our path, set our course and influence our lives. Few want a leader that opposes Christian values and embraces Sodom’s values.
At risk now are young people that look up to the office of president. This office carries tremendous influence and responsibility. Parents, teachers, Christian leaders now have the responsibility to teach their children what’s right and what’s wrong. Homosexuality is Biblically wrong. Gay marriage is wrong. Regardless of what President Obama said “Biblical marriage” is between a man and a woman. Period.
The Weekly Standard wrote of President Obama’s political posturing on gay marriage:
“In fact, Obama has not “evolved”—he has changed his position whenever his political fortunes required him to do so. Running for the Illinois state senate from a trendy area of Chicago in 1996, he was for gay marriage. “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages,” he wrote in answer to a questionnaire back then. In 2004, he was running for the U.S. Senate and needed to appeal to voters statewide. So he evolved and favored civil unions but opposed homosexual “marriage.” In 2008, running for president, he said, “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.” Now in 2012, facing a tough reelection campaign where he needs energized supporters of gay “marriage” and has disappointed them with his refusal to give them his support, he is for it. To paraphrase John Kerry, he was for it before he was against it before he was for it again.”
As a Christian how many times have you changed your beliefs on homosexuality and gay marriage? Scripture declares, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” It also says, “Cleanse your hands you sinners and purify your hearts you double-minded.” President Obama said friends, family, neighbors and his presidential staff helped him come to this conclusion. The President voiced his views on national television:
“I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I talked to friends and family and neighbors, (Not God, the Holy Spirit, or the Bible) when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together (Homosexual sex cannot procreate children.); when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting (And Dying) on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that ‘don't ask, don't tell’ is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage (Civil Unions were not good enough), at a certain point I've just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.”
{module Spiritual Warfare Kit}Our Christian values do not come from friends, family or coworkers. They come from the Word of God. In other words Christians, those that have repented of sin, asked Christ to forgive them, turned from their wicked ways and made Christ the Lord of their lives are governed by the Word of God. Their values, world view, and foundation must line up with Christ the Corner Stone. Not only must they repent of their sin but they must “bring forth fruits meant for repentance.” When a national leader publicly denies the truth of the Gospel we cannot ignore the implications. Scripture declares, “The wages of sin is death.” Eternal separation from God is far more important than gaining political favor. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).
President Obama’s personal relationship with Christ is between him and God. We are not taking issue with that. We are taking issue with his approval of homosexuality and gay marriage. Speaking out on this issue will create opposition and spiritual warfare. God haters will attack the messenger while ignoring the truth. They will call you everything from homophobic, intolerant, hateful and prejudice. Some Christians will attack saying that you are unloving and judgmental.
Jesus came into the world to save the lost by offering his blood for the redemption of sin. Christ loves the sinner but not the sin. Homosexuality may be politically correct, but it is still a sin. All of us have to make a decision to turn away from sin and follow Christ and his Word. John wrote, “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Our nation’s children need you to take a stand for righteousness. You are called to be light, salt, and a city set on a hill. It is doubtful many preachers on national television or radio will address this, but you can. Let’s set aside politics and take the time to pray for our president and, at the same time, stand up for God by putting first the Kingdom of God and “His righteousness.” Prophets separate the holy from the profane and speak to the nation. Pastors protect your sheep and speak to your church. Parents talk to your children. Intercessors join me and pray for our president, nation, and its leadership. Together we can make a difference.
