Experience the power of the Holy Spirit with the nine gifts He brings, the anointing, and signs, wonders and miracles. Nine gifts of the Holy Spirit are available for you with signs, wonders, and miracles. Scripture declares, "He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and power." The Holy Spirit is the power of God. You can expect Him to take an active role in your life as you experience the nine gifts of the Spirit, the anointing, and signs, wonders and miracles.
After Christ’s resurrection, he met with His disciples for forty days teaching about the kingdom of God. He told them not to go into the world until they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He said they would receive power to witness in all the world “after” the Holy Ghost had come on them (Acts 1:8). This is significant. Jesus knew what it would take to build a Church the gates of hell could not prevail against.
Even Jesus, the creator of all things, the Word incarnate received the Holy Spirit. As He stood in the river Jordan being baptized in water by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit came on Jesus. “And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Mark 1:10-11).
It was after His baptism with the Holy Spirit that Jesus declared, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me because He hath anointed me.” Just imagine, up until this time, the very Word Himself had not opened one blind eye, healed one lame soul, walked on water, or cast out any demons. But then something happened. The Holy Ghost came on the Word. , And is a profound truth, the knowledge of the Word and Spirit working together to advance and establish the Kingdom of God on earth.
Smith Wigglesworth, England’s pioneer of faith, prophesied in 1947, “When the Word and the Spirit come together there will be the biggest movement of the Holy Spirit that the nation, and indeed the world, has ever seen.”
THE PROMISED GIFT
If Jesus needed the anointing of the Holy Spirit to complete His ministry so do you. After Christ’s ascension, His disciples gathered together in the Upper Room waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit. Suddenly they heard the sound of follows and mighty rushing wind. The Holy Spirit arrived, bringing all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, and filling them all with power from on high. Afterward, Apostle Peter preached his great “this is that” sermon explaining to the people the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy.
“But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy” (Acts 2:6-18).
The people responded to Peter’s message. “ Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” (Acts 2:38-39). The gift of the Holy Ghost belongs to the righteous and their children.
NINE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is promised to every believer. He was given to empower you to do what God has called you to do. In other words, you are gifted by Him to do great things. When the Holy Ghost comes on you not only will you speak with other tongues and prophesy like those in Scripture, you will also be a candidate for the manifestation of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and the anointing. Scripture lays out the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit as following.
“Now there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. , (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). {module Holy Spirit Led Value Kit }
Notice “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” When you receive “the gift," the Holy Spirit, you also receive the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit “dividing to every man severally as He wills.” These gifts are not just for the preacher. They are for every born-again believer that is baptized with the Holy Ghost. He is that “same Spirit” Paul was referring.
The nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit can be broken down into three categories: revelation gifts, power gifts, and utterance gifts.
REVELATION GIFTS (A gift manifestation that knows something.)
- A word of wisdom
- A word of knowledge
- Discerning of spirits
POWER GIFTS (A gift manifestation that does something.)
- Gift of faith
- Gifts of healing
- Miracles
UTTERANCE GIFTS (A gift manifestation that speaks something.)
- Prophecy
- Divers kinds of tongues
- interpretation of tongues
These manifestations of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit everywhere to every son and daughter of God.
THE ANOINTING
Now let’s review the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Jesus taught that the Holy Spirit anoints. This too is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of His disciples. Scripture says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19). Again, the "He" that anointed Jesus was the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that came on Jesus is the same Holy Spirit that comes on you. That means the same anointing that was on Jesus is the same anointing that comes on you. The anointing of the Holy Spirit empowers you to:
- Preach the gospel to the poor
- Heal the brokenhearted
- Preach deliverance to the captives
- Recovering of sight to the blind
- Set at liberty them that are bruised
- Preach the acceptable year of the Lord
The Old Testament reveals the anointing was breaking yokes and removing burdens (Isaiah 10:27). So far you have discovered the Holy Spirit has nine various gift manifestations for us to profit. You have also learned the anointing is involved with giving witness and now we will see the manifestation of the Holy Spirit with signs following.
WITH SIGNS FOLLOWING
Christ gave us other examples of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of believers. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following” (Mark 16:15-20). These 'signs that follow' manifestations include:
- Casting out devils
- Speaking with new tongues
- Taking up (Greek airō, remove) serpents
- Laying hands on the sick
All of these are examples of the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of born again believers. As already said, after Christ’ resurrection he told His disciples they would receive power after the Holy Ghost had come on them. That same power is available to you. Expect the Holy Spirit to take an active role in your life manifesting the nine gifts of the Spirit, with the anointing, and with signs, wonders and miracles following him that believes.
