Does the Holy Spirit Still Speak to us Today?

Does the Holy Spirit Still Speak to us TodayYes, the Holy Spirit still speaks to us today. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:1, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits to see whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." This passage is a warning to us to test the spirits that we encounter and to not believe everything we hear.

The Bible also tells us, in John 14:26, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

This passage tells us that the Holy Spirit is still active today and is still teaching us. The Holy Spirit has many roles in the Bible that are still relevant today. He is a comforter and encourager (John 14:16) who will guide us in our decisions (John 16:13).

He is a source of wisdom and understanding (1 Corinthians 2:10–11)  and a source of power to do Gods work (Acts 1:8). He is a helper in times of difficulty (Romans 8:26). He is also a revealer of truth (John 16:13).

The Holy Spirit still speaks to us today in a variety of ways. He speaks through the Bible, through people, through prayer, and through our own conscience. He also speaks through circumstances, dreams, and visions. We can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit if we are listening for it.

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:2, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." This tells us that the Holy Spirit can speak to us through strangers or through people we do not know.

We can also hear the voice of the Holy Spirit through our own thoughts, feelings, and intuition. We can hear Him through the words of others, such as our pastors, teachers, friends, and family.

Finally, we can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit through circumstances, such as when God uses our circumstances to teach us a lesson. When we hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, we must be careful to discern if it is actually the Holy Spirit speaking to us.

We can do this by testing the spirits according to 1 John 4:1 and by asking ourselves if what we are hearing is in line with what the Bible teaches. We can also ask for confirmation from trusted Christian friends or leaders.

In conclusion, the Holy Spirit still speaks to us today in a variety of ways. He speaks through the Bible, through people, through prayer, and through our own conscience. He also speaks through circumstances, dreams, and visions.

It is important to discern if it is actually the Holy Spirit speaking to us by testing the spirits according to 1 John 4:1 and by asking ourselves if what we are hearing is in line with what the Bible teaches. We can also ask for confirmation from trusted Christian friends or leaders.
