Combatting the Rise of the Leviathan State: A Biblical Perspective

Apostle Paul describes high-level spiritual warfare as wrestling against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). These powers make up the Leviathan State. Jesus said, “I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

The Holy Spirit said, “You can’t come out of what you cannot see.” I’m convinced the world is experiencing the rise of the leviathan state.  Scripture says, “These shall make war with the Lamb and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14).

There are many leviathan states in the world. They represent various principalities and powers that rule the nations. They even network together. Sometimes called the “coalition of the willing”(1) , “governing oligarchs”, “broad coalitions”(2) , “dictators”, or “nation builders” these make up various individual nation states and collectively an anti-Christ Babylonian system based on unrighteous mammon, leverage and debt, where their serfs are kept in line through the use of guns and butter. Butter is financial enticements known as entitlements, tax benefits, and welfare. Guns are used for those that can’t be bought by the butter. The Holy Spirit showed Apostle John the end game regarding the Babylonian system, it will fall in one hour (Revelation 18).  But where did this wicked leviathan system come from? Let’s take a look.

DIVISION OF KINGDOMS

In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve. They had two sons Abel and Cain. One day Abel brought the firstlings to God, Cain an offering. God received Abel’s tithe but Cain’s offering He rejected. Cain was angry and murdered his brother. Afterward, Cain left the family of God and started the first city-state (Genesis 4). This teaches in the beginning there was only one family, the family of God. There was only one government, the government of God. There was only one kingdom, the Kingdom of God. It was Cain that left the family of God. He would not tithe. Tithing was an acknowledgment that Jehovah was the Sovereign Lord of all. It still is. “The earth is the LORD'S and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein” (Psalms 24:1). Refusing to tithe was a sign of rebellion to Jehovah’s rightful authority over man.

When Cain left the family of God in rebellion and built the first city-state we discover the genesis of the division of kingdoms and the birthing of the first leviathan state. In the Kingdom of God Jehovah governed man. Within the leviathan state, it was man ruling over man.

A kingdom, any kingdom, unsubmissive to the Lord of Glory is a rebel leviathan state.  It is rebellious, humanistic, murderous, and warring. It is full of wickedness and enslaves its citizens. We could refer to the modern leviathan state as statism.  According to the “Political Science Dictionary” statism includes “Sovereignty vested not in the people but in the national state, and that all individuals and associations exist only to enhance the power, the prestige, and the well-being of the state. The concept of statism, which is seen as synonymous with the concept of nation, and corporatism repudiates individualism and exalts the nation as an organic body headed by the Supreme Leader and nurtured by unity, force, and discipline.” This is a good description of the modern leviathan state.

The Apostle Paul describes the high-level spiritual warfare of the Church as wrestling against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). These powers make up the leviathan state. Jesus said, “I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The gates of hell also represent the reprobate state that refuses the lordship of the King of Glory. Once, for example, the United States was considered a Republic (not a democracy) and one nation under God. America’s pledge of allegiance, also known as an oath of allegiance, evoked those words as an acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty over the nation.  Today, however, the United States is not submitted to God and oaths to uphold the U. S. Constitution are only a verbal formality lost in the yellowed pages of time.  I wrote about this in my book “Saboteurs in the Republic: Battling Spiritual Wickedness in High Places.”

Some rather still hold to these penned truths:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights (rights that come from God alone, not the state), that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”—Declaration of Independence

OATH OF ALLEGIANCE

An oath of allegiance is binding. It binds you to loyalty and faithfulness. Citizenship requires the taking of oaths. In the United States to become a citizen one must swear an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, not statism, not the Republican Party, and not the Democratic Party. Those coming into the Kingdom of God also take a binding oath. Within the Kingdom of God you repent of sins, turn from your wicked ways, ask Christ into your heart thus receiving Him as Lord and Savior. The sinner’s prayer is a binding oath of allegiance to Christ, not a charismatic personality, not a ministry affiliation, and not a denomination. Scripture declares, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10). It is the oath of allegiance to Christ that gets forgotten in the hearts of the sons of God. So not only have we forgotten our oath of allegiance to the U.S. Constitution that has its roots in the Creator we have forgotten our oath of allegiance to Christ. This is food that weakens the Church and empowers leviathan.

PHARAOH’S TASKMASTERS AND DEBT SERVITUDE

Through the process of time the sons of Jehovah’s kingdom and sons of rebel leviathan spread throughout the earth until we reach the time of Pharaoh’s bondage of God’s covenant people. The kingdom of Pharaoh was a leviathan state. His unjust control of the People of Promise was without bounds. Scripture declares:

“They did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.”(Exodus 1:11)

The "John Gill Expository of the Entire Bible" describes Pharaoh's taskmasters as "masters of tribute" or "commissioners of taxes". "Barnes' Notes on the Bible" says they were "chiefs of tributes". Not only could they impose taxes but they had the power to enforce collection through debt servitude. Through heavy taxation and harsh revenue collection a great and evil wealth transfer took place from the heavy burdens of God's people into the treasure cities of Egypt. Pharaoh’s treasure cities were depositories, storehouses used to lay up the riches of the kings of Egypt. They could safely house items of wealth such as gold or grain. The United States has depositories known as Fort Knox in Kentucky storing 4,603 tons of gold and The Federal Reserve Bank of New York depository housing 5,000 tons. These ancient storehouses were also known as temples.

“And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows.”(Exodus 3:7)

“Afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.”(Exodus 5:1-2)

Jehovah called Pharaoh’s kingdom a leviathan state and like all leviathan states that enslave Yahweh’s people they come to an end.

“Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”(Exodus 6:6-7)

Ben Franklin wisely advised, “A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins.”The opposite could also be true. A nation of ill informed men who have not been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them can be enslaved.

Don’t surrender your liberty in Christ to leviathan. A Christian can only agree to be governed without challenge by those that are governed by Jehovah. To be lorded over by evil, wicked and reprobate leviathan leadership leads only to slavery and bloodshed. Scripture declares, “Who the Son sets free is free indeed.” “Free from what,” you ask. Yes, the wages of sin, but more. Salvation is also from the wicked chains of leviathan. Deliverance and liberty comes from Jehovah. This is the story of the Exodus.

The Holy Ghost is signifying the understanding of liberty is on the way. In the next article we will review how apostolic transition is revealing a clash of kingdoms in the spirit and necessary changes the sons of God will soon make. While everything that can be shaken will be shaken the Kingdom of God is expanding. Get in on the expansion!
