Power To Witness

Power To Witness 304After Christ’s resurrection, He met with His disciples for forty days teaching about the kingdom of God. He told them not to go into the world until they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He said they would receive power to witness in all the world “after” the Holy Spirit had come on them (Acts 1:8). This is significant. Jesus knew what it would take to build a Church the gates of hell could not prevail against.

Not only will the Holy Spirit help strengthen your spirit man, pray effectively, give you the power to witness, He will also use you to flow in the supernatural power of God. The Holy Spirit is promised to every believer. He was given to empower you to do what God has called you to do. In other words, you are gifted by Him to do great things. When the Holy Spirit comes on you, not only will you speak with other tongues and prophesy like those in Scripture, you will also be a candidate for the manifestation of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. Scripture lays out the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit as following.

“Now there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

Notice “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” When you receive “the gift", the Holy Spirit, you also receive the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit “dividing to every man severally as He wills.” These gifts of the Holy Spirit are not just for the preacher; they are for every born-again disciple of Christ that is baptized with the Holy Spirit. He is that “same Spirit” Paul was referring to.
