Your One Step Away From Your Breakthrough

Manifest Destiny: What You're Looking At Is Where You're Going

What You Are Looking AtManifest destiny takes you into God's furture for your life. Your mind looks into the past by memory and into the future through vision. Your mind looks into the past by memory and into the future through vision. Godly vision gives you focus and focus gives you direction.

Apostle Paul said, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (Philippians 3:13). Paul never let his past dictate his future. He stayed focused. Avoiding distractions is important to the Disciple of Christ.

Sometimes vain imaginations block godly vision. From my experience, people seem to drift into vain imaginations rather than seeing all things possible. This is probably due to the fallen Adamic nature that must be crucified on a daily basis. Jesus said, “If any man will come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23). Everyone must learn to identify discouraging imaginations, cast them down, and focus on the future.

Godly vision gives you focus and focus gives you direction.  To look into your future, it’s necessary to close your eyes in prayer. After the call of God had come to Jeremiah, it was necessary for him to see the possibilities (Mark 9:23). God told Jeremiah to envision his future. “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms (the call), to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant (the mission). Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it” (Jeremiah 1:10-12). Vision is a picture of your future.

You can see a pattern in these Scriptures. God speaks to his servants, the servants then hear and see. God told Habakkuk to write the vision and make it plain. Scripture says, “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak (the vision), and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry” (Habakkuk 2:1-3).

Vision is a picture of your future that keeps you focused. What you are looking at is where you are going. Take a moment now, close your eyes in prayer, and let the Holy Spirit give you a picture of your future.
