Spiritual Warfare Prayer and Scriptural Authority

Spiritual warfare prayer is a battle in the spirit. That’s why it’s called spiritual warfare against spiritual enemies. Scripture declares, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).

High places are ruling places. Often Apostle Paul uses terms such as soldier, fight, weapons, and armor. He made it clear that your struggle is not against people, but the spirits that motivate people to do what they do. This is why we pray spiritual warfare prayers.

Spiritual warfare prayer is using your delegated spiritual authority to bind and loose through prayer. You have been authorized to bind demonic attacks and to loose the favor of God. Warfare is armed conflict against an enemy. Christians arm themselves spiritually with the Word of God. They study, for example, to show themselves approved, workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). They take up the shield of faith that stops all the fiery darts of the wicked one. They also wield the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Scripture declares:

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds." (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)

"See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. "(Jeremiah 1:10)

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD." (Isaiah 54:17)

There are many spiritual enemies to arm against such as sickness, prophetic divination, and demonic strategies that try to steal, kill, and destroy your faith in Christ.  Nevertheless, your battle is not against flesh and blood. Your warfare is a fight in the spirit. Win spiritually and things get better naturally. Lose spiritually, and things get worse naturally. This is where the Word of God and battling prayer become vital to the Disciple of Christ.

There are many different types of spiritual wafare prayer and spiritual warfare Scriptures. Various types of prayer such as the prayer for strength, prayer for protection, and prayer for the sick have different kinds of results. Scripture says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). Mature in the Word and learn how to pray. Start with binding and loosing in the Name of Jesus.

Christ gave you the keys to the Kingdom. Those are your victory keys. He said, “I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19).
