Chosen Voices And Prophetic Ministry

The prophetic ministry is distinctively different from the other five-fold ascension gifts. Prophetic ministry is uniquely distinct from the pastoral for example. Where pastors may be more sheep minded because they are shepherds, prophets may be more voice of God minded. Prophet Habakkuk said, “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved” (Habakkuk 2:1).

Prophets are also more spiritual timing minded such as the children of Issachar, “Which were men that had an understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do” (1 Chronicles 12:32). (Check out What Every Prophet Needs to Know.)

Prophets, like the other governmental ascension gifts of apostles and teachers, are drafted into ministry by the sovereign will of Christ alone. No one can call you into the five-fold office of a prophet. Even with that said, we don’t want to focus solely on the prophetic office but rather prophetic operations such as being led by the Holy Spirit. Scripture says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). With that said, every Spirit-filled Christian can experience the manifestation of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

Prophets are familiar with this verse, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). Prophets are chosen voices that God sets apart to speak on His behalf. Their ministries are significant, different, and distinct. Prophets know their purpose and ministry role, chosen vessels making straight a highway for our God. Speak prophets. Our nation needs you.
