South Florida Church Offers Live Spanish Translation Services

Fort Lauderdale FloridaHALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. South Florida's Hispanic population continues to rise, but there are a relative few non-denominational, Spirit-filled churches that cater to Spanish-speaking Christians.

Indeed, about 45 percent, or 2.1 million, of the almost 4.7 million residents in South Florida over age of five speak a language other than English at home Spanish being the predominant language according to a poll by Research 2000. Yet the same study shows that the region has not fully embraced this multilingualism.

A paltry 10 percent of poll respondents who speak only English said they think such diversity is good for the community. And two-thirds of those surveyed in a separate NBC 6 survey said they aren't sure they need to learn another language. But they do need to hear the uncompromised Word of God, said Jonas Clark, founder and senior pastor of Spirit of Life Ministries.

That's why Spirit of Life Ministries, a Spirit-filled, multicultural, non-denominational church in Hallandale Beach, Fla., is meeting the need with live Spanish translation during morning worship services at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

"Jesus embraces all cultures and nations and so should His churches. I felt compelled to begin offering live Spanish translation from the pulpit because our community needs to hear the Gospel message in their native tongue. It's not about white, black, Hispanic or anything else. It's about growing together in the things of the Lord," Clark said.

Clark has a close connection with Spanish-speaking people and nations who are hungry for what says the Spirit of God. Clark is the founder and president of The Global Cause Network (GCN), a relationship-based network of believers who want to make the world a better place. GCN's Central American headquarters are in Masachapa, Nicaragua. The organization holds frequent national equipping conferences and leadership roundtables in the nation, as well as sponsoring orphanages and schools.
