Jezebel has friends. The spirit of Jezebel doesn’t work alone; she has a network. The Jezebel spirit is the most wicked of spirits. Historically, the rise and fall of spiritual power within the Church of Christ has been related to the acknowledgment and opposition toward demonic principalities and powers.
You are in a spiritual war whether you want to be or not. There are high-level spiritual assignments against you and the Church. One of the most powerful is the Jezebel spirit. That spirit works with a network of demon spirits to steal, kill and destroy your life, marriage, family, and ministry. Your success depends on your ability to see this spirit’s operations. You can’t fight what you can’t see. You can see.
Spiritual warfare is part of Christianity, and the spiritual warfare is not over. Jesus did not ignore demon powers, and he didn’t teach his apostles to ignore them either (Matthew 10:1). The Apostle Paul pulled the natural curtain back to see what goes on in the spiritual realm. He taught the church in Ephesus how to battle unseen spirits saying,
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand (fight back) in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13)
Warriors wear armor. Armor is for the fighting man. Like the Apostle Paul, you will fight many spiritual battles including those released by the Jezebel spirit. As leaders recognize the spiritual warfare released by Jezebel’s network of demons they can equip believers to use their delegated spiritual authority to fight back. Christ said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). When leaders ignore this dark ruler, believers and the Church suffer. You are not like others. You will not ignore Jezebel. You will learn how to stop the Jezebel spirit.
The Jezebel spirit is discussed in both the Old Testament and New Testament. Elijah had contact with Queen Jezebel and the governing church of Thyatira with a person carrying a Jezebel spirit. There are thousands of years between Elijah’s face-off and the Thyatira testimony. This gives evidence that the Jezebel spirit did not die with a wicked queen.
The church in Thyatira was commanded not to suffer the spirit of Jezebel.
“Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.” (Revelation 2:20)
“Sufferest that woman Jezebel” means:
- To allow, permit, and let.
- To allow one to do as he wishes, not to restrain, and to let alone.
- To give up, let go, and leave.
This means you know the Jezebel spirit is working through a particular person but refuse to do anything about it. One thing I can tell you for sure, to ignore the Jezebel spirit is ministerial suicide. You cannot beat this devil by leaving it alone. Ignore it and suffer the consequences, confront it and win.
