The Path to Mastery: Surpass the Limitations of Average

The concept of mastery (kingship) is explored and defined as a state of achieving excellence and surpassing the limitations of the average. It is a continuous process, requiring constant learning and spiritual and emotional growth. To achieve maturity requires a process of development and change.

The following are six key points that will help you attain mastery within your calling while breaking away from average:

1. Embrace the Apprenticeship Phase: The path to mastery begins with an apprenticeship phase, where one must be willing to learn from others and follow their guidance. This is similar to the relationship that the Apostle Paul had with Timothy.

This phase is essential for gaining a solid foundation in one's chosen field and developing necessary skills. One must also be patient during this stage, as mastery cannot be achieved overnight and requires years of dedication and hard work.

2. Develop a Mentor-Apprentice Relationship: Having a mentor is crucial for gaining knowledge, skills, and experience. In the book of Proverbs 27:17, it says, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."

A mentor can provide valuable insights, guide through challenges, and push one to surpass their limits. It is vital to choose a mentor carefully—someone who is not only skilled in the field but also has the ability to inspire and push one to achieve mastery.

3. Take in and Connect All the Knowledge: To acquire mastery, one must be a constant learner. This means not only learning from a mentor but also seeking out knowledge from various sources and connecting them together. The book of Proverbs 4:7 says, "The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight."

Every piece of information, whether related to the field or not, adds to one's overall understanding and can potentially contribute to mastery.

4. Adapt and Learn Through Experience: Experience is a necessary component in the journey towards mastery. It allows one to put theories into practice, learn from mistakes, and develop a deep understanding of the field.

As the saying goes, "Experience is the best teacher." This is demonstrated in the story of David in the Bible, who gained experience through his battles with Goliath and later became a skilled warrior and king. To gain mastery, one must be willing to put themselves in challenging situations and learn from them.

5. Tap into the Creative-Active Powers: Mastery requires not only knowledge and experience but also creativity. This involves thinking outside the box, experimenting, and taking risks. The book of Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, "He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap."

Similar to this, one must not let fear or uncertainty hold them back; instead, they must use their creative-active abilities to take action toward mastery.

6. Merge the Spiritual with the Rational: The final stage on the path to mastery is the merging of the spiritual man with the rational man. The spiritual man relies on the Holy Spirit for guidance, while the rational man focuses on logic and reason to confirm the spiritual. Intuition, for the Christian, therefore, follows the leading of the Holy Spirit while comparing spiritual guidance and natural thoughts.

According to Scripture, those who are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God. Mastery is achieved when the spirit-led man walks in the spirit while combining both intuition and rationality, allowing for a deeper understanding and connection to one's calling.

In conclusion, the journey to mastery requires dedication, patience, and constant learning. One must be willing to embrace the apprenticeship phase, find a mentor, seek out knowledge, gain experience, tap into creativity, and merge the intuitive and rational minds.

By following these six principles, one can reach a state of mastery and surpass the limitations of the average. With dedication and discipline, anyone can achieve mastery in their chosen field. Submit yourself under the mighty hand of God, and he will exalt you in due season.
