Congress approved the $700 billion banker bailout with a final vote of 263-171 in the House. The voice of the people was ignored. The aristocrats have spoken, “Long live the Canaanites, who cares about the will of the peasantry?”
It’s amazing, the tide of calls that flooded the White House, Senators, Congressmen, and anyone that would listen to the voice of the people begging our leadership to “vote no” to the greedy banker bailout – but the bluebloods refused to listen. To make their bailout plan more palatable to us churls they spun the facts, changed the terminology, ramped up fear and bought the votes needed from the weak and timid.
Friends, this bailout will do nothing to stop the recession caused by a flawed fractional banking system selling easy "teaser loans" (debt) to the populace. It will do nothing to stop people from loosing their homes. It will do nothing to help people keep their jobs and feed their children. It will do nothing to keep longterm inflation in check and it will do nothing to advance the purchasing power of the U.S. dollar. This bailout could go down in the history books as the tipping point toward an American socialistic government that will one day tell you how many potatoes you can put in your soup. Congress is on a roll, socialized healthcare is next.
Before the ink was even dry from the pen of President Bush’s signature on this bill, these utopian Canaanites began to tell us not to look for this “rescue plan” to produce any quick results. Last week they were insistent something had to be done without delay and it was “our only hope.” Surely next week it will be our enduring patience that will be needed and even our patriotic duty.
President Andrew Jackson once dealt with the Canaanite bankers. In discussing the Bank Renewal bill in 1832 he said, "Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time, and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the eternal God, I will rout you out."
Tonight there will be drunken sounds of victory in the camp of the Canaanites as the crimson vino flows between corrupted lips of deception. Enjoy it while you can dear gluttons, because the peasants will have their chance to tell you what they really thought about this bailout come November. The voting record of this bill should be kept in the bibles of every freeman as a constant reminder of the fight for liberty.
“Can things be changed?” you ask. Absolutely, but they can only be changed when Christians understand the first great commandment and expectation of man. God said “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion…” (Genesis 1:28). This means getting involved in the affairs of society. I wrote about this in my book “Kingdom Living.”
Let this be a call to the battle line. Let this vote wake up the mighty men. Let them beat their bucolic plowshares into spiritual swords of righteousness. Let them invade with the Gospel of the Kingdom, a gospel demonstrated by advancing Christian life and culture in our nation. Let us have the same reforming spirit as Caleb who said, “Let us go up and once and possess it for we are well able to overcome it” (Numbers 13:30).
Don’t be discouraged. Jesus is still Lord. As the old Southern gentlemen used to say, “It ain’t over till it’s over.” scri pture declares, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:7).
Let us remember the words of Pastor Samuel Sherwood (1730-1783), "No free state was ever yet enslaved and brought into bondage, where the people were incessantly vigilant and watchful, and instantly took the alarm at the first addition made to the power exercised over them."
