Throughout
history the Church has been the epic center for
artistic creation and expression. Just take a stroll through the
streets of Europe and look at the massive church buildings in
every town center. They are ornately arrayed with that splendid
Old World charm. It would be difficult to copy the construction
work of those old masters today. Sadly, we have drifted far from
the creative splendors of our Christian heritage. Western
society is centered on a sports culture. A close examination of
Scripture, however, reveals that the Word of God is rich in an
arts culture. Look no further than the magnificent temple that
Solomon built. And take note of the many artists that were
employed in the temple service.
What ministry opportunities does the Church provide for those
who are not great athletes? Perhaps he or she is a writer,
painter, architect, jeweler, poet, actor, dancer, songwriter or
minstrel. Our God Himself is a creator and is still looking for
someone to demonstrate His creative nature. The apostolic
reformation is restoring many things back to the Church,
including creative expression through the arts.
At SOLM we are making great strides toward this restoration.
Ministries such as
Genuine Praise
are helping restore the tabernacle of David through dance. This
apostolic team releases the creative nature of our Lord Jesus
Christ in others, and is just one of the many facets of creative
arts ministry.
