I believe we've entered a time where Jesus said "But this kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting."

In order to change something people have enough tried to do things by their own strength, without the true power of God behind their words.

I believe we're in an age where nothing will happen, "But through prayer". In fact, the prayer-action scale will tilt more and more towards prayer.
It is because 'we the people' have not the heart of God, that 'we the people' can not relay anything to the world, unless we pray and seek God first. Get guidance, be in fellowship and talk about our nation. Find vessels whom God is speaking through.

Either way of the scale is not good... 100% left, or 100% right will not work.

Prayer goes together with actions, but only for those whom absolutely have prayed. In fact; nothing ever happens because we pray so little!
If we're on the right track, God will open the doors.

Let me give you a small story:
An african missionary felt it from God to visit a town in Africa where the gospel had never been heard, and where there was misery all around.
The village's spiritual head was a witch doing witchcraft, guiding the people.
This man felt it from God to start praying. As he started praying alone in his room, he prayed for 6 months consecutive, every day.
Finally he felt it was time to start sharing the gospel with some.
As he did, people came to his church, and within weeks his church had over 200 people.
He learned them how to pray, and they continued praying for the salvation of that town.
Most of them did not really know God (at least not like we do), but prayed anyways.
Not very soon after the witch caught note of that, and tried to stop the congregation and the christians.
It took just but the hand of God to stop that old lady. As she came out of the cab with her witch cards and voodoo equipment, screaming towards the pastor; the villagers (who had always lived in fear of her) where numb, not supporting her at all this time...

I forgot the end of the story, wether she died or left town, but that town became free of the witchcraft of that lady, and the climate of the town improved; crime calmed down, and many got saved!

Yes, perhaps we don't pray enough, but prayer is the basics; and faith that God will open doors and open the eyes of the politicians.. There's absolutely nothing we can do to change their thoughts; it is, must be, and should be a work of the Holy Spirit.

God can use even vessels that are not His to turn things ok again. The reason behind this economic and political turndown is spiritual and not natural.
Our hearts have become numb to the presence of God, and the presence of evil.

It is a state in which we the people find ourselves. A state that does not allow us to intercede and pray, or even care about what is going on; and I'm talking about the majority of the people here...

God leads the nation. In this we will need to trust, because there's not a single king put into position without God having knowledge of it...
God HAS placed his vessels in places of authority.

If you want to do something, Jonas, find the names of the people who make the decisions in this country, and selectively start to pray for THEM!
It's no good swinging a sword around when you're standing at the edge of the battle.
You need to go into the battle, into the core, find the root; the obstacle towards God's blessing into a nation, and there uproot it.
If Obama is a puppet of the congress, then perhaps we need to find the names of the congress men and women, and pray for wisdom for them.

This is not going to change, unless people come in unity, and uplift their congress before God.
And God will reselect the congress, as He sees fit!

But we can't undo the things that already have been done! In 2-4 years we might experience the consequences of getting so far into debt, that we won't be able to pay it back.
When that time comes, I believe God, and God's prophets will have no rest, being asked day and night the question: "what now?", "What should we do?", "What about our nation?"

I wouldn't know what's going to happen then, but it is only natural that it won't look good. I think most likely more trickery will be done to actually reduce the cost (perhaps rollercoasting the dollar's value, borrowing money on a low dollar, and selling it on a high dollar; kind of what's happening now already).
