Drill, drill and drill or alternate energy sources?

Our modern society is dependant on fossil fuels. There has been much talk about the need for alternate energy resources but just how critical is the need? Albert Allen Bartlett is Professor of Physics at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In a series of videos on Youtube he discusses the consequences of population growth and fossil fuel consumption.

He offers a date of “peak oil” and projections of the number of years that fossil fuels will be available. His data proves that alternative energy is a matter of national security and should be pursued without delay. He makes it clear that ignoring the problem will not make it go away. Will Washington offer the leadership necessary or will it be politics as usual?

One of the alternative fuels will be electric powered vehicles (cars, motorbikes), charged by solar panels and/or windturbines in some regions.

Another alternative to fossile fuel is being investigated is a sort of cane, which provides 4-5times more fuel then sugarcane. Looks like bamboo. They’re planning on growing these plants in florida!

A third one is very peculiar, since it’s being used in Israel, and is one of the methodes used that the bible speaks of as ‘the desert shall bloom’.
The process is gigantic transparent plastic bags with transparent waterways, with water running through it. With the sun shining on the water, algae is created, that can be easily converted to rude oils.

This is but one of the many techniques used to convert tree’s,plants, or algae into oil, that can be reconverted to fuel.
The regions greatly affected by this, are the world’s hottest places, like the Saharan desert, Saudi Arabia, or Mexico where the sun shines a lot.

The algae fuel only needs sun, (irrigated) water, and space, and probably will be used 2 years from now (just like sugar cane conversion to fuel happened a couple of years ago, creating bio-fuel).

A lot is happening in the micro-biology studies; the DNA modification of bacteria, can cause a specific bacteria to become more active creating these fuels in a much faster rate.

Without much having to do,I decided to read your blog, which is separate from your main page, and perhaps comment on some of your posts!
