We have heard a lot about the Jezebel spirit. Now I want to show you some interesting things about the spirit of Jezebel's origins and activity in the world today. Let's take a look.
scri pture declares “And he shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began” (Acts 3:20-21). The Greek word for restitution is apokatasis. It is only used once throughout scri pture and means a restoration to a perfect state of harmony with God before the fall of Adam. In our journey to understand this great reconstitution of all things, our part as a kingly priesthood in the ministry of restoration, and the meaning of the “kingdoms of this world becoming the kingdoms of our God” let’s look at the origin of kingdoms after the Great Delude.
Noah, who built the great Ark of God and survived the great flood with his family, had several sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham had a son named Cush who had a son named Nimrod. (Revelation 11:15, Genesis 10:1-8.)
NIMROD THE MIGHTY HUNTER
Nimrod was called “a mighty hunter before the Lord.” This doesn’t mean that he carried a bow and arrow and frolicked about green meadows in search of wild game. On the contrary, Nimrod was a murderer. He brought the populist around him under subjugation through force. In all probability Nimrod was an evil tyrant who carried a bloody sword.
We learn much about a biblical character by their names. Nimrod’s name means rebel; one who refuses allegiance to and opposes by force an established government or ruling authority. Therefore, with this definition, Nimrod refused adherence to, and opposed by force, God’s righteous governing authority. So defiant of God was Nimrod that he built the city Babel and the great Tower of Babel.
Josephus, the Jewish historian, wrote that the Tower of Babel was in the days of Nimrod. “He (Nimrod) also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power. He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to be able to reach and that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers!”
scri ptures declares, “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower whose top may reach unto heaven and let us make us a name lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men built” (Genesis 11:4-5).
Doubtful that he actually saw the Tower of Babel, the historian Herodotus wrote about it in 440 B.C., “It has a solid central tower, one furlong square, with a second erected on top of it and then a third, and so on up to eight. All eight towers can be climbed by a spiral way running around the outside, and about halfway up there are seats for those who make the journey to rest on.”
In the course of Nimrod’s rebellious motivation he built the first ‘kingdom’ of man rule. scri pture says, “the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.” Notice the cities were in the “land of Shinar.” This observation will be important to you later.
SEMIRAMIS, GIFT OF THE SEA
History says that Nimrod married his mother Semiramis. The name Semiramis is a later Hellenized form of the Sumerian name ‘Sammur-amat’, or ‘gift of the sea.’ Others say that during the course of Nimrod’s conquest he met Semiramis who was a prostitute. Babylonian mystics say that Semiramis floated to shore from the sea as an egg and attracted doves that hatched her. The newly built Catholic Cathedral in Managua, Nicaragua has many eggs on top of its massive structure that can only remind the knowledgeable observer as symbols of Semiramis. The initial element ‘sammur’ when translated into Hebrew becomes ‘Shinar.’ Therefore Semiramis’ name is also Shinar. Now you can understand why the Genesis writer described Nimrod’s kingdom being “in the land of Shinar.” Nimrod’s kingdom will later be ruled by Semiramis and called “the land of Shinar.
One day Semiramis became pregnant. Nimrod, who knew that he was not the father, became furious and was ready to have her killed. Semiramis, in her defense, concocted a mysterious story; she said that a beam of light supernaturally impregnated her. Calming Nimrod’s wrath temporarily, she later gave birth to a son named Tammuz. As the myth grows of Semiramis being a “gift of the sea” and becoming pregnant from a beam of light she becomes known as the Queen of Heaven. Semiramis was a master in cultic deception and gave birth to a new religion in the land of Shinar referred to as Babylonian goddess worship. It’s interesting to note some of the things that Semiramis taught her loyal disciples.
Semiramis taught that the Great Serpent was the rightful lord of the universe whose throne had been temporarily usurped by God. According to her, the serpent created man “in his present miserable state, but promises that a child would one day be born of a divine mother which child would supplant God, become a god himself, and return ruler-ship of the earth back to the serpent.”
Semiramis’ promoted worship of the ‘heavenly host,’ Satan's army of fallen angels. Atop the Tower of Babel was an area dedicated for such pagan adoration.
EMPEROR WORSHIP
Satan was surely pleased to receive this indirect worship; hence the third major element of the mystery religion of Semiramis was emperor-worship through her son Tammuz whom she presented to the people as a god. Later in the Roman Republic this evolves into a title of Pontifex Maximus. The last to hold the title of Pontifex Maximus under the Roman Republic were Julius Caesar (62-44 BCE) and M. Aemilius Lepidus (44-12 BCE). After Lepidus the title passed to Augustus, and henceforth the title of Pontifex Maximus would be a prerogative of the emperor. It remained this way until the 5th Century when it passed to the Pope, who have used the title ever since. The title Pontifex literally means a bridge builder or one called to bridge the gap between the world of man and the world of the gods.
Semiramis established a cult of priests and various worship ceremonies such as the baking of cakes in her image, ceremonial bowing and kissing, sexual rites of passage, and cult prostitution including homosexuality.
After the death of Nimrod Semiramis taught her cultic following that he survived death as a spirit being. She claimed that a full-grown evergreen tree sprang up overnight from a dead tree stump, which symbolized the springing forth unto new life of the dead Nimrod. We can see the planting of such trees next to every Ashtaroth temple in scri pture.
One day something unexpected happened and Tammuz died. Semiramis, who was filled with grief, fasted and prayed to the fallen host. Babylonian mystics deceitfully teach that she lamented for 40 days and nights and because of her prayers Tammuz was raised from the dead. That lamenting period today is a Catholic religious observation known as Lent. It was once celebrated as the Feast of Ishtar, another name for Semiramis. Lent is the 40 days before the resurrection of Jesus. When you see the image of a woman with a child in her lap you have to wonder is that image really Mary and Jesus or Semiramis and Tammuz.
TAMMUZ THE FALSE CHRIST
scri pture records the worship of Semiramis’ son Tammuz in scri pture. “He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. Then said he unto me, hast thou seen this, O son of man? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. Then he said unto me, hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.” (Ezekiel 8:13-18)
Ezekiel, a prophet of Jehovah, was taken to Babylon from Jerusalem in the second deporation in 597 B.C. This is many years after the death of Semiramis, the Queen of Heaven and Tammuz her "supernaturally" begotten son. In Ezekiel’s vision he saw the continuation of the worship of Tammuz in the Lord’s house. One can only imagine how blasphemous this was to the Great Jehovah who viewed this as a great abomination.
The worship of Semiramis would seem far fetched in our civilized 21st Century yet even now people worship her. Today she is called Ashoura and celebrated by thousands. The Daily Star reported, “Shiites turn out en masse as killings again mark Ashoura in Iraq. Police estimate that hundreds of thousands turned out for the commemoration.” They further report that they “whip themselves with chains and cut their heads with swords.” This certainly captures the imagery of those prophets of Baal that Elijah confronted. The photos of this ceremony are so gruesome and bloody they are seldom in the Western Media. I saw one unsightly photo of a woman cutting the head of her crying baby with a small sword thereby drenching him in his own blood.
QUEEN OF HEAVEN
scri pture also refers to the goddess Semiramis as the unseen lady of kingdoms, “Sit thou silent and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, the lady of kingdoms” (Isaiah 47:5). Isaiah continues, “And thou sadist I shall be a lady forever so that thou dist not lay these things to thy heart neither didst remember the latter end of it. Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures that dwellest carelessly that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow neither shall I know the loss of children. But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries and for the great abundance of thine enchantments. For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, none seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart I am, and none else beside me” (Isaiah 47:7-10).
Semiramis is known by many names throughout history from the Queen of Heaven, Ishtar, Isis, Venus, Mother Earth, Ashtaroth, Diana, and the Jezebel spirit. Her kingdom is none other than mystery Babylon. She is the great mother of harlots and abominations of the earth whom the Apostle John saw drunk with the blood of the saints of God whom God will ultimately finish her destruction in one day at his return (Revelation 17:5).
According to scri pture the Queen of Heaven and her eunuchs have influenced and ruled many kingdoms throughout history. It is written of her by Jeremiah who rebuked those who burnt incense to her (Jeremiah 44:17-25), Joshua who had Achan killed for taking an accursed Babylonian priestly garment and burying it in his tent (Joshua 7:21), the prophet Samuel that challenged the people of God to put away Ashtaroth and all their strange gods (1 Samuel 7:3-4), Elijah who destroyed the prophets of Baal and Jezebel’s prophets, Ezekiel who saw the vision of Tammuz, Isaiah who saw the Lady of Kingdoms, Paul who fought against Diana of Ephesus (Acts 19:27), the church of Thyatira who tolerated the Jezebel spirit (Revelation 2:20), and today you and I, the born again believers in Jesus Christ called to continue the ministry of overcoming her kingdom.
THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD
The purpose of this article is to teach the reader the origin of the kingdoms of this world after the great flood mentioned in scri pture and the working of the Jezebel spirit throughout history. The good news is that this world and every kingdom in it, natural and spiritual, visible and invisible, throne or power, belong to Jesus. He is the great God of heaven and earth that shed his blood for whosoever will repent of their sin, turn from their wicked ways and accept His atoning blood shed on the cross of Calvary will have eternal life. This information also gives us more to magnify our Lord for who rose from the grave having spoiled principalities and powers and triumphing gloriously over them (Colossians 2:15). He took away all demonic authority and now nothing on this earth rightfully belongs to them. Jesus, the second Adam said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:18-20). Everything, including the kingdom of Babylon and the rule of Semiramis belongs to our King Jesus and one day the Church will see the final reconstitution of all things – “the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ and he shall reign forever and ever (Revelation 11:15).
